COA SHUTTLE BUS SCHEDULE REVISED AS OF MAY 1st

On Tuesdays, we will go to Walmart in Plymouth on the 1st Tuesday; the Marshfield Food Pantry, the 2nd Tuesday and we have added the new Market Basket in Hanover on the 1st Wednesday and 3rd Tuesday. Except for the first and third Tuesday of the month, we will continue offering in-town medical appointment transportation for appointments between 9:30 – 11:30 am on Tuesday mornings.

 VOLUNTEER MEDICAL DRIVER PROGRAM

This program serves ambulatory Marshfield residents who are 60 years of age and older who have no other means of transportation for out of town medical appointments such as office visits, treatments, mental health and physical therapy. Reservations are required and we request one week notice of appointments to ensure us ample time to find a volunteer driver. Patients with medically necessary appointments, including dialysis treatments must have a backup plan to the Volunteer Transportation Program.

We are always seeking volunteer drivers so if you have a Massachusetts driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and are looking for a fulfilling volunteer opportunity, please consider joining the team. As part of the Old Colony Planning Council, drivers are eligible for reimbursement for mileage, parking and lunch under certain instances.  If interested, please contact the Senior Center at 781-834-5581 and speak with Kristen.

Volunteer Medical Transportation

The Council on Aging provides door to door transportation to Marshfield residents 60 and older for medical and other essential services outside of town using volunteer drivers. Advance notice required and rides are dependent upon volunteer driver availability. Clients requesting transportation will be informed of the voluntary donation policy based on mileage. The program is largely dependent upon voluntary donations received. For more information or to schedule a ride, call the Project Coordinator for Volunteers at 781-834-5581 Ext. 2120

In conformance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), GATRA also offers a paratransit service to individuals with disabilities who cannot use the fixed route bus system. GATRA’s ADA Paratransit Service provides origin to destination transportation to ADA eligible individuals who are unable to use the fixed route bus service due to a disability. This service operates the same days and times as the fixed route bus service and travels within ¾ of a mile of the route. It is a shared ride and multiple users could be grouped together allowing GATRA to provide efficient trips that will meet all ADA requests. A person must apply to see if they qualify for this transportation.  Download the application and fill out Part A.  A licensed professional who can attest to the disability that prevents use of a fixed route bus must complete Part B. The application should be sent to the administrative office (10 Oak Street Taunton, MA 02780).
