Marshfield Council on Aging
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
Adoption Date: July 18, 2012
Revision Date: June 19, 2019
PURPOSE
To notify residents and participants about weather related delays or closings of the Marshfield Senior Center.
PROCEDURE
In case of inclement weather, the Board of Selectmen may cancel, delay opening or mandate early closing of the Senior Center and other town Buildings independent of the schools. Old Colony Elder Services and/or the Council on Aging may cancel the Congregate Lunch Program and Meals on Wheels. The COA Director may cancel any or all individual programs as needed.
Volunteer COA medical drivers may not be available to drive clients to appointments during severe weather or threats of such weather. The Director, in conjunction with the Project Coordinator for Volunteers, has the authority to cancel the Volunteer Transportation Program when deemed necessary.
It is incumbent that clients needing timely medical care such as dialysis treatments have a backup plan to the Volunteer Transportation Program.
Cancellation announcements will be sent to radio station WATD (95.9) and other media outlets as they become available.
