The Tech Room, as it is labeled resides in the north wing of the building. The room is spacious and well lit. There are 4 desk top computers for the public to use for checking email, surfing the web or using the Microsoft Office Suite to create documents. We also have headphones on request if you would like to do some quiet listening. Several times a week there are volunteers in the Tech Room, who come in and assist patrons with technology questions or support. Please check the schedule for times and dates. The Senior Center also provides wireless access for those that need it for their mobile devices.

Essential Smartphone Skills Workshop for Seniors from OCES

Friday, September 19 at 1:00 pm

Free hands-on workshop by Old Colony Elder Services to help confident use of Android or iPhone in a supportive, slow-paced, everyday language presentation with visual aids. Program will focus on everyday functions like calling, texting, taking photos, using apps, and accessing emergency features. Bring your iPhone or Android to class. Must sign-up in advance at the front desk or by calling 781-834-5581. Max. 12

They will provide one-on-one assistance with downloading apps, setting up accounts, and exploring eBooks, audio-books, movies, and more. Hands-on ‘How to do more with Facebook’ with Robin Billing

Friday, October 24 at 1:00pm - 2:30pm

A 90 minute “hands-on” workshop. Prior to class, participants should have: 1) set up a FB account, 2) downloaded the FB app, and 3) logged into their FB account using the app. Workshop will include: posting/commenting etiquette - suggested do’s & don’ts, creating your own posts with text & photos/video, responding to others’ posts, following/unfollowing friends on your News-feed, and dealing with unwanted posts/ads.
