THE SENIOR TAX RELIEF WORK-OFF PROGRAM FOR 2026

The program runs on the calendar year and will begin January 2, 2026. You must reapply every year. Applications are available at the Senior Center front desk. The purpose of the program is to utilize the skills of qualified senior citizens whose earnings are applied toward payment of their property tax bill. If chosen to work at a site, seniors will earn $15.00 per hour and can work up to 100 hours with a maximum earning amount of $1500 gross. There may be deductions taken out of the earnings with some exceptions. Those participating must complete their hours by the end of October of 2026 for processing. The amount earned will be applied to and appear on the 3rd and 4th quarter tax bill of the next subsequent year. Those participants who were not placed last year will be given consideration for placements for calendar year 2026, if they reapply. Please note that we may not be able to place everyone that applies due to the limitations for placements and guidelines of the program.
Eligibility Guidelines:
* At least 60 years of age
* Reside in Marshfield and occupy the property for which taxes are paid
* Must present a copy of your current tax bill with your name
* If property is in trust, the applicant must be a trustee.

We will be showing this film again. This was the topic of the February Men’s Breakfast. It was a fascinating documentary about the famed 10th Mountain Division. Produced by Warren Miller Entertainment in partnership with Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum telling the story of the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troopers and how they transformed skiing as a whole and championed the U.S. Ski Industry after World War II. After participating in a major turning point in the War, these heroes came back from Italy as pioneering individuals and helped expand skiing from general resort development to a lifestyle sport. ART FOR YOUR MIND “MARY CASSATT, A NEW WOMAN”

Art For Your Mind is an engaging, educational, art observation experience designed to broaden the minds of its participants. Presentations are for people of all backgrounds – artists and non-artists alike. The featured topic, Mary Cassatt, A New Woman, explores the creative mind of one of America’s most prominent 19th-Century artists. Cassatt’s accomplishments helped forge an open-mindedness about what art could be, and about what a woman could do. This class is intended for individuals comfortable with or interested in stretching and exercising from the floor onto an exercise mat. The therapeutic movements, exercises, and stretches introduced in this class are designed to build core and back strength along with hip mobility and hamstring/lower extremity flexibility. Neil is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist who has taught this program for years at COAs throughout Massachusetts a well as being employed by Spaulding Rehabilitation and BIDMC. Musical Monday with Jack Craig: IRISH SONGBOOK

A lively, authentic, and intimate performance celebrating Ireland's rich musical, cultural, and storytelling heritage. Presented by Jack Craig! Author Series: Top of the Bog to Boston: A 20th Century Irish Journey

Come hear this fantastic presentation on her book “Top of the Bog to Boston, A 20th Century Irish Journey” is a tender yet wrenching tale of two Irish immigrants, Larry and Betty, who left their rural villages in the 1950’s. Amid a rapidly changing American landscape, they struggle to forge a future far removed from the homes they left behind. Kathleen is a former professor of history and Boston resident. She weaves personal narrative, cultural commentary, and historical storytelling to illuminate the challenges of transitioning from Ireland’s close-knit villages to a diverse, complex, urban world. The American Woodcock's intricate courtship ritual is a unique experience that showcases the impressive aerial acrobatics that birds are capable of. A flurry of feather-produced sounds, amazing spirals to invisible heights, and zig-zagging descents are repeated over and over again at dusk, to the delight of onlookers. This presentation will introduce you to the woodcock, its unique adaptations and life cycle, and the courtship dance it's famous for. This fun & friendly workshop teaches participants how to grow and care for culinary herbs and nutrient-dense microgreens, using simple methods that work on a windowsill or small indoor space. “Live Your Life Well”

This is a popular day-long workshop from a panel of experts on topics like Eat Well, Get Enough Sleep, Connect with Others, Create Joy and Satisfaction and several others using Mental Health America’s Live Your Life Well “tool kit”. The presenters include nutritionists, nurses, clergy, educators, and a social worker.
You will hear from some experts and also have time to learn from your peers about what they use to manage stress and truly flourish.
There will be strategies to deal with stress and truly live your best life. The day is fun and interactive, the workshop is free and the day starts with a continental breakfast and ends with a hot lunch and a fun raffle. Must sign up in advance. Max 48.
