Art For Your Mind is an engaging, educational, art observation experience designed to broaden the minds of its participants. Presentations are for people of all backgrounds – artists and non-artists alike. THE ADDAMS FAMILY WITH BETH CAMERON-KILBRIDGE

Born in 1912, Charles Addams, was an American cartoonist known for his darkly humorous and macabre characters. The Addams family is based on a very real couple from New Jersey, Charles Addams and his wife, and his cartoons are loosely reflective of his marriage appearing in the New Yorker Magazine from 1938-1964. A PowerPoint presentation will show the earliest cartoons by Addams that evolve into the tv shows and movies that follow. Join Jack Craig as he plays piano and tells stories. This month, songs from ‘Rock Around the Clock’ through Beatles hits, Bacharach and David classics, and on to modern writers such as Billy Joel – the faces of American song writing have changed quite a bit in the modern era. This program highlights those changes along with giant movie hits such as ‘The Wind Beneath My Wings’, ‘Somewhere My Love’, ‘I’ve Had the Time of My Life’, and others. It’s your chance to sing hits by Chubby Checker, Patti Page, Elvis Presley, Bette Midler, Elton John, and Michael Jackson – all in just one program. SHIPWRECKS OF CAPE COD & THE ISLANDS

Between the years of 1850 and 1880 it is believed that approximately 3500 shipwrecks occurred off the coast of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. The area earned the chilling nickname “the ocean graveyard”. Buckle up your lifejacket! We’re off to investigate six shipwrecks that historians and residents are still talking about. FALL SHOREBIRD MIGRATION

Shorebirds are avian superstars with Herculean migrations, unique feeding adaptations, and elaborate courtship displays. Enrich your appreciation of these incredible birds, as we discuss species that are currently passing through during Fall migration. Once decimated by market hunting, shorebirds have shown remarkable resiliency as they populate ever-decreasing habitats. Presently, they provide important metrics in our understanding of the effects of climate change and sea level rise. After this presentation, you'll know where and when to observe shorebirds, as well as tips on visual and vocal identifications. OOMPAH OKTOBERFEST

The lunch will include Italian sausage with peppers and onions, coleslaw, hot German potato salad, torpedo roll, orange frosted cake and a sugar free cookie. Entertainment will be OOMPAH

OKTOBERFEST Music with include festive German and Bavarian songs which will inspire you to lift a stein and dance the

HALLOWEEN PARTY

Celebrate Halloween with musician Roger Tincknell who will serenade you with song and a guitar. He will play selections such as the Monster Mash, Ghost Riders in the Sky and "Spooky" by Dusty Springfield and more. Come dressed in your favorite costume or Halloween attire and we will award a prize for the best getup! There will be spooky and delicious refreshments along with a goodie bag for your sweet tooth. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Marshfield Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. AUTHOR TALK WITH DAVID SETTERLAND: 

1923 KISSEL KAR “GOLD BUG” SPEEDSTER

David is 75 years old and has traveled to 88-different countries. He is a writer of historical articles for both the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Vintage Motor Car Club of America. One of the most interesting stories to be told of the Automobile Pioneers is one of Errett Lobban Cord, and Frederick and Augie Duesenberg who built and designed a car that still today is desired by the wealthiest collectors! David will explain the history of the Duesenberg Brothers and Cord, and you will be surprised of why the most beautiful automobiles came to an end. FELTED GHOST CLASS

Join Pop up Art School and craft your own adorable Halloween decoration! In this fun, hands-on class, you'll create a cute ghost holding an orange pumpkin. Using just wool and a needle, our skilled instructor will guide you through each step. By the end of the session, you'll have a delightful handmade ghost to add a touch of spooky charm to your home! MUSICAL PERFORMANCE WITH MIKE DARDIS

Mike Dardis is a lifelong piano player and has been playing guitar for over 30 years. His show will consist of upbeat, familiar tunes that everyone can sing along to.  There will be plenty of Brain teasers thrown in, snippets of name that tune, singer, movie, tv show along with some fun facts of many songs throughout the performance.
